The polarizing pop star, Katy Perry, is set to resume her role as an ‘American Idol’ judge in Season 22, joining fellow returning panelists Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. She will not be the one that got away from the show.

ABC announced that Ryan Seacrest will return as the host for the longstanding singing competition when auditions commence in August.

Our source emphasized that Katy Perry was merely performing her duties, and while her unique sense of humor might not always come across well on camera, there was no ill intent behind her actions.

Controversy arose multiple times during Season 21 as Perry faced criticism for her comments directed towards a few of the show’s contestants.

Earlier, Katy Perry, aged 38, faced accusations of “mom-shaming” Sara Beth Liebe when she made a joke , implying that she had been “laying on the table too much.

After her audition aired in March, Liebe criticized the “Firework” songstress’ “hurtful” remark in a TikTok video. Moreover, expressing that being a mom and a woman already comes with its own challenges.

In April, Katy Perry faced backlash for her criticism of Nutsa Buzaladze’s glittery costume, remarking, “Nutsa, every time you take the stage, it’s like you glitter bomb the stage. Listen, one thing that I would like to see from you is not one piece of glitter the next time. I know that is going to be hard.”

Later in the season, the “Roar” vocalist faced accusations of being “dismissive” of Wé Ani after he advanced to the next round of eliminations. While her favorite contestant, Elijah McCormick, did not.

Nonetheless, Katy Perry has found defenders among many fans, who argue that her commentary is significantly less severe, And, when compared to the notoriously harsh insults delivered by the original “Idol” judge, Simon Cowell.
